A Grand Oasis
**Work in Progress**
βThe vast loneliness up here of the Moon is awe inspiring, and it makes you realize just what you have back there on Earth. The Earth from here is a grand oasis to the big vastness of space.β β astronaut Jim Lovell, Apollo 8
Based on an image taken by the crew of the Artemis II on their April 2026 mission to the moon, this piece attempts to capture some of the beauty and wonder of our Earth as viewed from space while also reflecting on the fragility of our tiny planet. Earth is the only home we have. If we continue to treat it and treat one another as disposable, for just how much longer will our time at this grand oasis last?
